|Notes||A handwritten note on reverse states, "This order was issued by Col. Wm. Selden to put down the 'plug uglies' from [Baltimore] who came over here to prevent a fair election. It was not until Col. Henry B. Tyler chief of the Marines at the Arsenal fired upon the crowd doing some damage that peace was restored. Col. Tyler had to bring his cannon to [illegible] upon the crowd of plug uglies or know nothings wounding some that the City became quiet."|
